Third Bobby Van hits the road!

The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust (WBVT) are pleased to announce that we now have an additional, third van on the road, enabling us to respond more swiftly to visit requests across the county.

Since 1998, the WBVT has supported people over 60 and 18+ registered disabled by making their homes more secure, and providing advice. Responding to referrals from agencies such as Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Council, Age UK, etc, and requests by individuals for visits, the WBVT has seen demand for the service increase to the point where we needed another van and Security Operator.

Former PCSO Will Todd joins our two existing Security Operators, Doug Batchelor and Mick Leighfield. Will has worked with Wiltshire Police since 2004, and brings a wealth of relevant knowledge and experience to his new role with the WBVT.

Will says:

“As a PCSO I enjoyed getting to know people, and working with partner agencies to reduce crime and build safer communities.

I feel that the Bobby Van is valuable service that assists elderly and vulnerable people to be safer in their own homes.

I am really looking forward to working with the other members of the Bobby Van team who are committed to delivering an excellent service.”

Will’s van will mainly provide cover for the middle and west of the county, and help us to ensure that there is more consistent coverage of the county, which was a struggle with only two vans. The increased demands for talks at community events can also now be more easily accommodated – with requests coming to Paula Evans and Kath Williams in the office weekly.

Welcome to the team, Will!
